The problem
Keeping key information to run data analysis when anonymisation of data is necessary for security and privacy purposes.
The project has been coordinated by Mosaic Factor, as Big Data and AI specialist in the field of sustainable mobility of people and goods, with i2CAT Foundation and B:SM as mobility data providers from the city of Barcelona.
The solution
The project combines experience in the ICT field (data privacy and anonymization, big data, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity) and in the environment of sustainable mobility.
To avoid sharing sensitive data, synthetic data is used to ensure that confidential information is kept private, secure, and protected from cyberattacks.

By implementing ICS connectors with an extension allowing to create new artificial data with similar distributions to the actual data through advanced techniques and models to ensure data privacy.
The newly created synthetic data provides the same useful information as the original data with the advantage that is not revealing any sensible data and reducing the risk in case of cybersecurity failure.

Combining data from transport companies, local authorities and mobility services providers.
Results
The results of this project help to transform and optimise the mobility model towards the citizen, the economy and the environment, so that more data is obtained and can be shared easily and securely.
