Parking meter section predictive tool

The problem

Barcelona Serveis Municipals, needed a data-driven decisional tool to understand and anticipate need for parking section meters in the city of Barcelona.

The solution

We developed a web tool (section-parking meters) that allowed the operator to plan where to put parking meters according to the blue zone parking spaces of the city.

Features:

• Generation and export of relationships
  • Loading of data (sections, loc sections and parking meters) necessary to generate the calculations through Excel files.
  • Pre-processing of data and generation of relationships following the parameters and algorithms detailed in the specification document.
  • Export of results (list of relationships) in excel file.
  • Map display (location only) of both parking meters and sections (midpoint).

Results

Optimisation on the parking meters location in the city, resulting in better citizen satisfaction and savings in the number of parking meters needed.
