Client
The problem
AMB Informació is deploying a Metropolitan Mobility Big Data platform that will allow AMB Informació to analyse and apply AI solutions that bring direct added value to society and to AMB by crossing all data sources of the different services managed by AMB Informació, as well as introducing information from external data to AMB services.
For that, there is a requirement to develop a service for identification, analysis and evaluation of new data sources to be integrated in the big data area of AMB’s business. For instance:

- mobility,
- sustainability,
- logistics,
- Barcelona metropolitan area,
- climatology,
- incidents,
- flights, etc.
The specific objective of this project consisted in carrying out an exhaustive exploration exercise to identify and evaluate data providers aligned with the objectives of AMB Informació.
This involves:

- researching and profiling various providers,
- establishing communication channels and evaluating different aspects of the data services they offer.
- to finally provide customised recommendations that address specific use cases within AMB Informació’s business domains, ensuring informed decision-making and maximising the value of data acquisition and sharing.
- Adequately managing AMB concerns requires identifying the following three areas of interest:
- demand management,
- mobility planning,
- and traffic analysis.
- Each of these areas is highly dependent on access to specific data sources and knowledge in order to properly guide decision-making and strategy formulation.
The solution
A complete and very detailed data scouting on the specific use cases and categories detected by both MOSAIC FACTOR and AMB Informació useful for the Mobility landscape.
The data scouting methodology is shown in the following figure:
The report documents the results obtained from contact with potential data providers, selected based on a previous exploration exercise carried out in the context of this project.

- The scan identified 30 potential data providers with offerings related to AMB’s interests. 13 were chosen to contact and engage, representing the best offers available on the market.
- Contact was made with 10 suppliers, from whom detailed information was collected, including dossiers of their products and/or services, with additional information on their capabilities in the geographical area of operation of the AMB.
- In addition, data samples were collected for further analysis. This information was subjected to an analysis process to provide a more complete view of the offer in terms of data, tools and services.
- In each of the offerings from the data providers, the relevance of the offer to the three areas of concern identified by the project is discussed and assessed.
- In addition, each offer is evaluated with a score on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 indicates a minimal relationship and 5 indicates a perfect adaptation to the needs of the AMB. This score allows the customer to discern the relevance of each offer, with 2 indicating some relevance, 3 reasonable relevance with potential added value, and 4 tangible added value.
- Subsequently, suppliers are compared to determine which are the most suitable to meet the requirements of the AMB in each area and recommendations are formulated accordingly.
Furthermore, additional information was added into the final report directly requested by the costumer:

- Open mobility data sources catalogue from Barcelona area (mobility datasets and other typologies and its relevance to the use cases of the project)
- Data sources providers of local information (either local or external providers)
- R&D datasets related to mobility
- Environmental data providers (air quality and meteo data)
- Flight data providers
Data
Plenty of data sources and datasets with mobility and other types of data useful for AMB Informació’s objectives (confidential information) as well as several open datasets.
Results
The results of the project consist essentially in the final confidential report of the scouting provided to AMB Information, with the providers data portfolio as well as data files and other useful information for the main objectives of the project.
